At CARELink, we believe that learning sparks opportunity — and that every child, regardless of circumstance, deserves the chance to explore, experiment, and dream. Through our STEM & Learning Workshops, we bring interactive education directly to shelters and community centers, transforming ordinary rooms into spaces of curiosity, laughter, and discovery.
Our dedicated volunteers design and lead hands-on sessions that make science and engineering approachable and exciting. So far, CARELink has hosted over five interactive STEM workshops across shelters in Virginia, each crafted to inspire young minds through play-based learning and teamwork.
Children have explored concepts of flight by building paper airplanes and testing wing designs, experimented with catapult challenges to understand motion and energy, and developed problem-solving skills through marshmallow tower engineering activities. They’ve laughed their way through slime-making sessions that introduce the basics of chemistry and participated in simple science experiments that blend fun with fundamental learning.
Every session is designed to do more than just teach — it’s meant to build confidence, encourage collaboration, and remind children that learning can be joyful. CARELink’s young volunteers and mentors guide participants with patience and enthusiasm, ensuring that every child feels seen, valued, and capable.
Through these workshops, CARELink hopes to light the spark of lifelong learning — one that continues to grow as these children dream bigger and reach higher.
